“A vision of driving into a river with the kids in the back. Just to have one moment of blissful peace...,
just to make the noise S T O P”

Welcome to ‘InSane Mama Moments’
This is an invitation…
A collection of Mother’s real and raw stories, releasing shame and guilt by acknowledging and sharing your own buried stories - bringing them out into the light to be healed…
I invite you to share your own ‘InSane Mama Moments’, the ones that are too shameful to share, the ones you buried deep inside yourself and may have never told anybody.

This project was first launched at the Matrescence Festival organised by Lizzy Humber and Claire Tonti in Exeter, UK, on June 21st-22nd 2024.
Inspired by Candy Chang’s ‘Confessions’ exhibitions and Brene Brown’s amazing work into shame and guilt, and heavily influenced by my own experience of Matrescence, motherhood and maternal anger.
It stands on the shoulders of Matrescence trailblazers like Dana Raphael, Ph.D. (1973) who originally coined 'Matrescence' in the 60s, Dr. Aurélie Athan, Ph.D. who brought it into the 21st century with years of research, and Amy Taylor-Kabbaz, who created the life-changing Matrescence training Mama Rising® that I am honoured to have finished twice.

I believe EVERY mother has a story (or more!), a story you have buried deep inside, and possibly, maybe, never ever told anyone, because it is just too painful, too shameful, …
As women, and especially in motherhood, I believe we all do it.
We bury it. Deep inside. And we let these experiences fester.
Let them define us, make us feel guilty, make us believe that they are somehow proof that we are (yet, again), less then.
Not good enough.
A bad mother.
Surely, no one else could have done, said, yelled or thought anything just as bad as what you did…
But guess what…
We did.
We all did.
So lift the weight off your shoulders, mama. Share yours with me anonymously in the form below, and feel the release.
You are not alone.
Together we can move towards releasing, forgiving, and healing ourselves.

The future for our stories and moments is bright and creative. For now I am just holding your stories.
A Gallery Manager in my former life, I am exploring balanced ways to share them with the world.
Just know, that no matter what, your story will always be anonymised in terms of handwriting if you sent a personal note, and collected without any attachment to your name or email address.
I am only asking for names and email addresses separate from your storyin a small form at the bottom of this page. This is solely for the purpose of being able to invite you to future exhibitions or events.
To give you a chance to really see how your input, your story and vulnerability might make the world a little less ‘guilty’ for mamas.
You are part of the change.
You are so brave.
Thank you for your trust and vulnerability.
If you feel called to share your story, please do so in the Google form above.
And please make sure you leave your email in the form to the right, so I can invite you to events where your story might feature, and where mamas can heal together.
If you are interested in hearing more, just pop me an email at info@thesanemama.ie
